Baby is the size of a butternut squash
I can’t believe we’re at 26 weeks! Two more weeks & I’ll be entering the third trimester which just seems crazy. (That also means glucose test - fingers crossed I pass.) Time is definitely flying by. Summer is in full swing & soon enough it will be over, and then it will be time for baby girl to arrive! At week 25, Rob was able to start feeling baby girl move. It’s such a cool feeling for me, and for him it was like woah that’s awesome. He probably could have felt her sooner, but during the day he’s at work and at night when we lay down he falls asleep right away and then she starts moving of course.
Travel
Earlier this week, Rob & I got back from North Carolina. We went to Charlotte to visit his family and had such a great time. We miss them already! There’s so much to do in Charlotte - so many cute restaurants, it’s super clean & small, and everything is new. Not to mention, everyone is SO friendly down there and dogs are welcome everywhere. It’s definitely a different (better) way of living compared to up north.
We did end up driving which took about 9 hours from south jersey. It honestly wasn’t that bad. We pretty much drove through the night to miss all the traffic and that was the best decision. I didn’t really want to fly because I haven’t been on a plane in a long time, and didn’t want to risk not feeling well since I’m pregnant.
The Bump
The bump really started to pop while we were away. I feel like I got back and everyone was like where did that come from?! I still feel pretty good, but defintey get a little uncomfortable while I’m sleeping. I have been using one of our extra pillows under the bump while laying on my side and it’s been helping. I’m usually a back sleeper which is no longer an option because I end up waking up in pain so it has been an adjustment.
Dressing the bump is a little tough for me. My typical summer uniform is denim cutoff shorts & a knotted up tee. That’s not really an option right now so dresses & jumpsuits have been what look most flattering and are still comfy. It’s just hard to want to wear a dress every day lol. When I’m at home I typically wear lounge wear. Shorts or joggers and a pullover are my go to. I’ve also found that tighter clothes look better, but I’m more of an oversized, cozy top kind of girl so 🤷🏻♀️ it’s been tough.
Books
Ideally, I want to have as natural of a birth as possible. I know they say don’t make a birth plan because it won’t happen that way, but I definitely have an idea of how I want it to go. I got the following two books off amazon and I’m excited to read them! I will keep you updated via Instagram on how they are.
The Doula’s Guide to Empowering Your Birth
Nuture: a Modern Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, Early Motherhood - and Trusting Yourself and Your Body
As always, thanks for stopping by! Stay tuned for another update in a few weeks!
