I get a ton of hair questions on a weekly basis, so today I am sharing my current hair care routine! From shampoo & conditioner, to my favorite styling products, I'm giving all the details on what I use to keep my hair healthy! If you missed my most recent every day waves hair tutorial, you can find it here!
Before we dive in, one question I get a lot is about my hair color. I used to get balayage and we were able to get my hair pretty blonde. When I decided to go back dark this fall/winter, I just had my colorist put a glaze/toner on my whole head. We've been doing it a shade or two darker than my natural and I LOVE it. Because it's semipermanent, it fades over time. When I notice it starting to fade, I schedule an appointment to get another one! So that is what I've been doing color wise over the past few months.
I also want to mention that I've been taking the Olly undeniable beauty vitamins religiously for the past few months as well. I take one a day (even though they recommend 2) and I have seen a noticeable difference in the length of my hair. Even my stylist said it's gotten so long since we last trimmed it. These vitamins work!! I've even noticed that my nails are much stronger and breaking less!
SHAMPOO
My favorite shampoo is the Living proof phd shampoo. I've been using this shampoo for so long and it never fails me! It is sulfate and silicone free, and safe for color treated hair. It helps prolong time between washes, which is a major plus considering I only wash my hair every few days!
CONDITIONER
For conditioner, I switch back and forth between the Living proof phd conditioner and Living proof full conditioner. The phd is perfect for everyone, and I especially love how silky it makes my hair feel. The full conditioner is the most clarifying out of the entire line, which means it gets rid of product build up and also leaves my hair feeling super smooth.
STYLE EXTENDER
When my hair is damp, I will use the Living proof prime style extender if I'm going to blow dry my hair right away. It primes my hair and helps the style stay up to two times longer!
NOURISHING OIL
I love the Living proof nourishing oil because it acts as both a treatment and styling product. I use it as a treatment when my hair is damp and I am going to let it air dry. You can also use it as a styling product on dry hair to to smooth and tame frizz. I typically use two pumps from mids to ends whether my hair is wet or dry.
DRY SHAMPOO
My favorite dry shampoo is by Living proof. Theirs is the best I have used yet! It actually cleans the hair and leaves your root looking fresh. This is another product that has a great scent that lasts all day! The Moroccanoil dry shampoo is definitely comparable to Living proof. It comes in either dark tones or light tones, depending on the color of your hair. I get the dark tones and love that when it absorbs there is no white residue left over.
DRY CONDITIONER
My favorite product for second & third day hair as a refresh is the Arrojo dry conditioner. It's the same concept as dry shampoo, except for the ends of your hair. It softens, shines, and leaves your hair feeling smooth and looking clean. Not to mention, the smell is amazing.
HAIRSPRAY
When it comes to hairspray, my holy grail hairspray that I always have on hand is the Moroccanoil medium hold. I'm a hairspray junkie, and this one is the one I repurchase the most. Nothing beats the scent and I love the flexible hold. My curls fall out just enough and last through the next day. A hairspray that is a close second is the working spray by Arrojo. This also has a super flexible hold and smells good!
TEXTURE SPRAY
When I want to add a little texture to my waves, I always reach for the Arrojo wave mist. I love this texture spray because it helps achieve the perfect beachy look without making your hair stiff and dry like a dry texture spray would.
HEAT PROTECTANT
Now, if I'm being honest, I don't use a heat protectant religiously. It's never been a solid part of my routine, but when I do use one I reach for the Morocanoil perfect defense or the Living proof instant protect. Both are great!
As always, thanks so much for reading!
