Happy Friday! I hope everyone enjoyed their week and is ready for the weekend! Today I want to take the time to give a thorough review of my Tory Burch Fleming Shoulder Bag. I got it for Christmas and I am obsessed with it! It's gotten a lot of love over on insta so I figured why not write up a review?
I know purchasing a designer bag can be a big decision. I also know that they are worth it! If you've been on the fence about splurging, hopefully my pro/con list below will help you make a decision!
PRO
super soft leather
This bag is made of lambskin leather and I cannot begin to tell you how buttery soft it is. When I first saw this bag in Nordstrom I loved the color and thought it was a gorgeous bag. When I walked over and felt the bag, I was sold. You can just feel the quality on your fingertips.
top zip closure
I love love love that this bag has a top zip closure. I can easily zip it shut so no one can see the mess inside hah! I also think it helps the bag have more of a polished look - if that makes sense. Compared to my Louis Vuitton Never Full, I prefer the top zip closure over no top closure.
size
This bag is considered "large" in size. Unless I'm going out and only want to carry a few things, the bigger the bag, the better. This one fits my wallet, planner, notebook, iPad, sunglasses and glasses (both in cases), and SO much more. I'm still on the hunt for a small cosmetic bag that I like, so if I find one there's definitely room for it.
inside & outside pockets
Pockets are something I strongly consider when purchasing a bag because they help me stay organized. On the inside of the bag, there is a pretty large zipper pocket on one side and three layered, smaller pockets on the other side. I use the large zipper pocket to fit my lip balms, lip sticks, and hand cream. I use the other smaller pockets for pens, pencils, jewelry, etc. On the outside of the bag, there is one large pocket that is the size of the entire bag. Let me tell you, this outside pocket is a LIFE SAVER. I throw my phone in there for easy access. I also keep my phone charger in there, as well as my eye cream and face serum that I use on the reg and always need with me.
color
The color of this bag is gorgeous. The nude is perfect for all year round and it matches everything. A lot of the bags from the Fleming collection are also available in black.
CON
lacks structure
Because this bag is super soft, it takes the shape of whatever is in it. If I don't have a lot in my bag, but still have my planner and notebook, they tend to lean rather than stand up straight, causing the bag to lose it's natural shape. I would say it is more of an every day bag rather than a structured work tote (like the Robinson).
straps
Don't get me wrong, the straps on this bag are gorgeous and I love the gold chain; however, they slide because they are a pull through style, which causes them to be uneven at times. You can see what I mean by comparing the second and third photos to the first photo. Maybe it's the OCD in me, but I do take mental note of when the straps aren't perfectly aligned. Even though I listed this as a con, I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker.
Overall, I love this bag for every day and would absolutely recommend splurging on it if you've been eyeing it! Check out how I styled with outfits here, here, and here.
