A few weeks ago I went to get a SilkPeel Dermalinfusion treatment at Rejuvenation Day Spa (follow them on insta here). I had heard so many good things about it so I was excited to see the results for myself! I have to say - I am super impressed with how it made my skin look and feel! Not only am I impressed with the treatment, the spa itself is gorgeous and has the most relaxing atmosphere. The staff is also very friendly, super knowledgable and highly qualified. What more could you ask for?
To help you understand what this facial is all about (and hopefully convince you that you need to invest in this ASAP), I did a Q&A with Jana, the owner of Rejuvenation.
SILKPEEL DERMALINFUSION FAQ'S
What exactly is a silkpeel dermalinfusion treatment?
It is a non-invasive skin rejuvenating treatment that exfoliates, evacuates, and delivers condition-specific topicals. The "condition-specific" topicals can treat hyperpigmentation, acne, dry skin, or simply detoxify.
Is this treatment for everyone?
Yes. The SilkPeel Dermalinfusion treatment is safe and effective for all skin types.
What can I expect during the treatment?
During the treatment, your skin is cleansed and prepped. Your esthetician will choose an appropriate grit diamond tip and a specific solution to be infused during the treatment. The SilkPeel can actually treat conditions such as acne, melasma, and hyperpigmentation. There is absolutely no pain or down time and your skin will look and feel beautiful & rejuvenated.
Will it cause my face to break out in the few days after I get the treatment?
Not typically. However, if you already had an underlying issue, the treatment may stimulate and facilitate a hastened healing effect which in turn is a good response.
Are there certain products I should stay away from before & after getting the facial?
Yes. Stop use of any "active" products such as Retin A, Retinol, Acids, and Tretinoin 72 hours PRE and POST treatment.
How often do you recommend getting this treatment?
If you are treating a condition like acne, hyperpigmentation, or melasma, every two weeks is recommended. If you are not treating a specific condition and just want to keep your skin clean and fresh, once a month is recommended.
MY THOUGHTS ON THE TREATMENT
Like I said in my intro, I am more than impressed with this treatment. For my first time, I opted for the hydrating one. It left my skin feeling super clean and looking healthy. I did not experience any breakouts in the days (& even weeks!) following the facial so that was a major plus. I also felt that my skin was more hydrated than before.
My favorite part (besides the mini neck & back massage that made me want to book a full massage) was actually getting to see what came out of my skin. As the treatment exfoliates your skin, it takes out all of the dirt, oil, blackheads, etc. and it all ends up in a clear jar that your esthetician will show you at the end! Talk about instant gratification. You get to see what came out of your skin & how much better it looks without it!
I absolutely plan on getting this treatment done again! Next time I want to try the vitamin C solution for brightening & detox. Be sure to follow me over on instagram to see when I go again!
